Head Red 2020
Fruit is sourced from up to 10 Barossa vineyards predominantly coming from the higher altitude, cooler sites of Eden Valley. The wine allows a preview, or snapshot, of the vintage quality to come. The wine always receives 12 months barrel maturation in a majority older French oak (228L, 300L & 500L), 5% of which is new, allowing the vintage and Barossa character to show clearly.
Volume (ml): 750ml
Alcohol Vol. (%): 14.5
Standard Drinks: 8.6
The 2020 was produced from the second drought year in a row, however it’s a wonderful year for traditional style Shiraz in the Barossa. Big fruit and richness in the mid palate, with some of the aromatic prettiness of 2018. We tried pushing a little whole-bunch fermentation into some of the Eden Valley components and even 10% Cabernet Sauvignon to hold freshness in the wine.
