Vin de Garde. Ageing well
By Alex Head /It was a real treat recently, to see some of our back vintage wines re-tasted by The Real Review during their recent Classification Tastings. At least 10 vintages of each wine had to be submitted just to qualify for the tasting!
The results show that, indeed we are truly making ‘Vin de Garde’ wines i.e. wine to keep. Winemaker, Alex Head says, "It has always been my intention, from the start of my Head Wines journey, to bring back the black art of making wines that improve with bottle age." Fingers crossed we'll see these wines enter 'The Real Review Classification of Australian Wine'.

Whilst these were back vintages and the bottles are sold out, there is some good news. Each year, we take a selection of our Vin de Garde wines to bottle in large format.
To celebrate our results, we are releasing these and other magnums, so you also have a chance to experience how well our wines age. These are in short supply so you will need to be quick!
