Wilton Hill 2022

Shiraz

Wilton Hill is sourced from an Eden Valley Old Vine Clone Shiraz vineyard planted 1965 at 480m altitude on top of the Barossa Ranges. The bunches are hand selected and partial whole-bunch fermented with gentle foot-treading and basket-pressing. The vineyard's unique soil profile is a mix of shallow sandy loam and orange clay over limestone, ironstone and rose quartz. This is Grand Cru Barossa Shiraz at its finest. 540 individually numbered bottles. 96Pts Ken Gargett - Winepilot, 96Pts Andrew Caillard MW - The Vintage Journal.

Tasting Notes

“The colour is an inky dark maroon with a garnet rim. Still very young, we have notes of chocolate, tobacco leaves, smoked meats, sage, black fruits, coffee beans, beefstock, licorice and a touch of graphite. The oak integration is exemplary. Love it. This wine should provide immense pleasure for the next fifteen plus years and continue to improve even further over that period.”   96pts
Keith Gargett – Winepilot
“Deep colour. Very expressive blackberry pastille, boysenberry aromas with some ginger/roasted chestnut, hint cedar notes. Generous and deeply set with ample dark berry fruits, a touch of smoked meats, dense chocolaty tannins and plentiful new oak notes. Finishes cedar firm and long.” 95pts
Andrew Caillard – The Vintage Journal
